What year is it?
« on: February 20, 2017, 02:53:07 PM »
I have a 2.3 Pinto, but I'm not sure what year it is. I believe they made the 2.3's from 1974 to 1980. I found this number behind the exhaust manifold: D6EE-6015-AA; another number on the engine block: 7C04; when I took the valve cover off I found this number on the block: 07EE-CE
Any help would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks

Look at the title. Will have the year of mfg. Front end picture would really help.

Being that he is giving us engine part numbers I'm going to assume he is referring to an engine only - and not a whole car when he says "I have a 2.3 Pinto." Thus it seems the word "engine" as a specific designation is missing.  If it were a whole car there would be better body identification cues to give.  Anyway, that in my hunch.  Maybe the original poster can be more specific.

Sorry to say those numbers (to me) are not assistive to answering your questions. Perhaps there are others who are more familiar with the specific part numbers.

I only have the engine, no body or title. Is there a number somewhere on the engine block that will tell me what year it is?

There should be a VIN stamping on the engine somewhere, On my '71 2000CC it was on the back side of the block. i'm not sure where the vins are stamped on the 2300.. my guess is late '70's possibly 1977. it looks like the 7c04 maybe a date code March 04 1977?    Chris
