What's the usual cost of a new exhaust system?
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:21:46 PM »
Here's the story: I was given a friend's one owner 78 Pinto Pony with 37k a few years ago and have been working on getting it roadworthy ever since.  I think I'm finally at the point of getting it to the state inspection (last one was 1993). They may fail me for the holes in the muffler. Of all the cars I ever owned, I can't remember ever having to buy a new muffler or exhaust system.  I'm kind of out of date on what the usual cost is.  What should I expect to pay a shop for an exhaust system from cat back? Any recommendation s in the Flower Mound/Lewisville/DFW, TX area?

If everything is okay,  say no other leaks, just go to Summit and get a new muffler....

If the pipes are still good just get a NAPA stock replacement muffler for it

Put on side pipes!  ;D
Bought my Pinto in '12, last tagged in '97. Had it on the road (thanks to a $20) spring '14. Tima to tear it apart, fix it correctly this time....and play with the drive train. Got a totally free & complete drive train-engine, 5 speed, drive shaft, and computer!
