How hard is it to remove a water pump in a 1977 Pinto? What do I need to remove pulley?

Which motor does it have? Either motor, you should be able to get the pulley off with a regular socket set, or wrenches.

You'll have to pull everything down to the timing belt, to clear your way to the pump. Drain your coolant, and pull the hoses from the pump. Remove the pump mounting bolts, 3 I think, and viola! Clean up the mating surface and do it all backwards.

It has 4 small bolts. Just remove them, and maybe tap it a little, and it will fall off.

you dont need to remove the timing components, just remove the pully and fan with a wrench and the loosen the belts and the pully wheel will fall off, then two hoses and three bolts, jusyt removed mine to weld an bungs on it
