Ok, ?.. I'm looking for panels to put onto the back window area(I understand the window's have to come out), is it easier/faster to simply make new panels that'll fit & bold on or scourer the country for those possibly expensive real porthole panels that came off another pinto wagon(if I can talk that once-found someone into shipping'em?
(The interior side of those panels would be relatively easy for me, including the porthole I would adapt into them.. even insulating them for the cold climate in my area..)

Someone should chime in, but you will need more than just the panels to use the Pinto panels. That is the hard part. If you are good with metal working it might be better/easier to make your own.

In the nearly 8 years I've had my Pinto I've only even seen one set in a wrecking yard (and I've probably been at least 100 times to roughly 8 yards over that time). Ironically it was when I flew to Sacramento to have my brother drive me to San Francisco to get my Pinto. On the way from the airport we stopped at the Pick N Pull on Mack Rd. and there was a cruise wagon. One of the windows was broken and thinking that weren't that rare I passed on getting them - opps. I mean my first Pinto parts hunt and I see a pair, what was I to think. I'm not saying they aren't out there, but stumbling upon a set isn't likely to happen.

I thank everyone for the replies so far..
I also understand how long or far-n-few between these might be.. which is why I'm already entertaining the idea of making my own.. I can weld, do pretty detailed body work(shy of chopping a top, which I don't favor anyway), weather-strip vehicle parts tight, & even get somewhat imaginative with interior fit styling.. I have painted a few vehicles through the years, so only cost & time would be my biggest hurdles..
Curious, what 'other parts' might be needed to install those side wagon panels, beyond weatherstrippi ng, brackets, primers/sealers to keep from rusting, the odd trim moldings for the edges & around the porthole, etc?

There are 2 pairs on the craigslist here in portland. If you want them, and they won't make an effort for shipping, we could work it out.

Wolf where do you live? I have a few friends here in Wisconsin that have several sets of panels. To me they seem easy to find since they were the one thing saved when someone scraped a Cruising Wagon.

Hiya Flash, pardon me for not seeing this sooner.. I'm in Great Falls, MT & I'd be happy to pay shipping(well, maybe not quite happy, but I'd sure pay pay the shipping for a set of panels).. lol

Wolf, just an FYI.the parts that make up a panel install on a window wagon are as such. the panels w/window,front screw covers,back screw covers,carpet inner panel,plastic ring to fill carpet hole to window,DRIP RAIL EXTENION(generally over looked), the metal tabs that are on the body that the carpet panels hook to. The 500.00 set for sale on e-bay shows all these parts. good luck with your project. Bud
