How much paint needed
« on: August 10, 2011, 12:35:00 AM »
Can anyone tell me the appox. amount of paint needed to do a color change on a wagon. Including the engine compartment.
This will be a single stage enamel paint.
 Thanks, Rich

I'd think a gallon should be sufficient.

There are dozens of variables here. Are you doing the door & gate jambs? engine bay? underside of the hood? how many coats? gun type? air pressure at the gun? A wagon can take 1 1/2 gallons easily

I did it all, engine bay, doors   one gallon and paint left over. The clear is another story. My lack of experience taught me that too much clear is less then you need. So easy to sand through a thinly layered clear coat. Use plenty...5-6 coats
