Where is best on a stock 2.3 to hook up the vacuum advance? Manifold or ported vacuum? Where is yours hooked up?

My Mustang is hooked to a ported source.  I believe manifold vacuum would be at full advance all the time.

Only at idle is there a difference.  Both sources operate exactly the same off idle. So hook it to whatever source that provides the idle that you like.

Sorry to tell you port and direct vacuum do not operate the same at any point! Most Fords use Port vacuum! That includes all Pinto!

The difference between ported and manifold vacuum is:
Ported vacuum is low at idle (closed throttle), and full vacuum at open throttle.
Manifold vacuum is high at closed throttle, and low at open throttle.

All mine have been ported....but I prefer the mallory yl....kinda expensive but setup correctly and it's killer

Think of it this way. Holley would not put the port outlet on the carbs unless it was the way to go. Don't fight it unless you have no vacuum port to use. If manifold vacuum is all you have, try it.
