V8 swap 74 wagon
« on: December 21, 2016, 08:52:46 AM »
Have heard two options for frame mounts. Use the 74 2.3 frame mount and move the drivers side back 1 inch or the V8 MII frame mounts and motor mounts. I have the later. But you can only use two bolt holes on the frame mounts as the bottom holes of the MII frame mounts turn 90 degrees and don't mount flush like the 4 holes of the 2.3 mounts. Question: is it necessary to fabricate a bracket for the bottom 2 holes for the MII frame mounts. Thanks, Don

This guy makes V8 swap engine mounts. And they are adjustable.

You can use almost any engine mounts.

Just make your own frame mounts : https://www.fordpinto.com/your-project/blue-72/270/

As a Mustang II owner,  I will caution using the M-II option for a V8.  All my M-II V8 cars have either had the mounts rebuilt or are needing a rebuild, the rubber deteriorates terribly.  The M-II V8 mounts are hard to find and the rebuild kits are about $100.  It's a nice rebuild kit, but costly if you are starting from scratch anyway.  I got mine from Classic Auto Reproductions, if you do have M-II mounts already.
