differences in C-3 transmission: 2.3 versus 2.8

Hey guys
 
The transmission on my 77 Pinto is toast so I am trying like crazy to find a replacement but not with much luck. I have a line on a C3 from a 79 Pinto with the v-6. My question is aside from the bellhousing are there any other differences?
 
I have the c3 bellhousing from the car's original transmission & can swap them out if that is all that is different.
 
I appreciate any quick replies. The junkyard is only open till 1pm est today!
