Transmission fluid is coming from behind the downshift lever on my C3 automatic. Am I correct in thinking there is a small seal behind there that can be replaced when the lever is taken off? I thought it was the trans. pan gasket at first which I have replaced but it seems to be the seal. Anyone?
Thanks Fred

If you are sure it is leaking from the down shift lever it is just a O-ring , remove the nut and lever and use a pick to remove the old O-ring , install new one , if it's the shifter shaft you have to remove the pan , the nut on the inside , and a small pin in the middle of the gasket area , use a small vice grip to remove it , you do not have to remove the valve body to do it , if the parts store does not list it use a 93 ford ranger with the A4LD , it is the same seal ,

Thanks for the reply. I have fixed it. Behind the lever there is a seal, not an "O" ring as such. Part # 759003 at O'Reillys. No need to remove the pan.
Thanks Fred
