Retainer for 4spd
« on: October 02, 2013, 07:12:39 PM »
Does anyone know where I can find a screw-in retainer for a pinto 4spd?
I bought a 63 ranchero to restore that someone put the pinto trans behind the 6cyl. It took me forever to figure out which trans it was. Then the tail shaft was so corroded and the retainer so ground up, I had to cut the retainer out to get the trans out. Real tricky and I did not mess up the threads.
So, I am having a real hard time finding a retainer so I guess I might as well pony-up for a 4spd with a bolt on retainer. I never liked the column shift and the pinto trans fits perfect.
Anyone have a retainer or a 4spd with the bolt down retainer? Thanks

PM Fred Morgan, I'm sure he can fix you up. :) Do you have a part number? Cause my Google skills are failing me without. :)

PM Fred (member here). He has a Pinto graveyard.

Wow you sure have confused. One time you want a bolt on retainer then you say screw in.
If you want the bolt on check reply # 5 from Fred.
I'm thinking your trans may be from a later Fairmont or Granada.

RicPinto...you need to the first sentence of my orig post before making comments. Its hard enough being a new member then getting harassed for something that I did not say. That is not helpful!
