Tail shaft bearing for 1973 2.0L 4 speed
« on: May 22, 2017, 09:45:13 PM »
Hi I wondered if anyone has a good part number for a 1973 Pinto tailshaft bearing for the 4speed manual transmission.  I believe it is a FOG transmission,  toploader with an iron case but aluminum bellhousing and tail housing.   I looked around on the web but only was able to find 74 and newer.   Im not really familiar with this transmission, so any help would be appreciated.    It is in a Gazelle kit car and I believe the engine and tranny were from the same 1973 car.   I know the engine is a 2.0L.

My tailshaft bearing has some play in it, and develops some vibration when pushed over 55mph.  Its not bad yet, but I want to get it taken care of before it gets any worse.

Thanks for your help!

I have to add the "SR4, FOG, RAD" trannys are grouped together.  You'll find them in the left bar about half way down the page.

What you have is a Ford type "E" gearbox , burton power in England should have it in stock , they used to same transmission in all the pintos , so you should still find parts for it , 71 to 80 , if you live near me I have a whole transmission if you want it , later Blaine

Stay away from England. They have not payed us for what we sent them in WW2.  Go to  http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/manual_transmission_overhaul_kits/ford_fog_rwd.html   for all the fog parts you'll ever need.
Its better to be a has-been, than a never was.

all the pintos did not use the same transmission. some cars with the 1600 cc motor used an English trans.
the only substitute for cubic inches is BOOST!!!
