Title: Stabbing Hookers
Post by: t5gt40x on July 17, 2014, 10:52:46 PM
Got my headers back from being ceramic coated, and now Im facing the prospect of getting them in their past the interesting obstacle course presented by the steering column, clutch linkage and whatever else awaits. I am hopeful that the darned things will actually fit, as it appears there were headers previousy, ie the rear of the engine compartment/fender wells are already cut.
What my main question is, involved the three feet of ground clearance Hooker insists upon.
Is that the bare necessity?
any way of getting around that besides digging a wicked hole?
thanks for any help!

only took ten days to get the passenger side in.
not that hard once a hoist lifted the right side of the motor up.
Car is about two feet off the ground thanks to four medium jack stands.
had to dig a little clearance in the dirt to pivot the tubes up, but maybe not as
necessary once the engine was cocked to one side.
fourth tube wouldnt attach to the head, interfering with upper control arm.
eventually I realized the engine and trans locations need to be shifted back and down
slightly, and everything should be ok with that side.
I was very nervous about interference from the 164 tooth bell, but not a problem yet.
Drivers side should be a much more complicated venture.
