Title: Simple hotwire to override use of key

Ive seen people mention having very confusing starter issues, where there starter acts (or dosent act) in similar manners to my own experience. Im interested in what are some very primitive ways to hook up a two wire push button to start the car preferably in a way which doesnt involve getting confused with other currents hooked up in the  starter relay. So if there are any ways to just get a small loop of power running from this switch to the starter.

Simple toggle switch to coil and push button to solenoid doesn't get any easier than that

Coil? the green wire coming off the cylindrical ignition coil?

What I did on my 77 when the neutral safety switch went out was install a button in the car. I ran one wire to the "S" terminal on the solenoid, and I believe the other to ground. I still have to turn the key to the on position to start the car but to crank the car I hit the button I mounted below the radio

you do not want to ground the S terminal of the solenoid it takes a hot signal to operate the solenoid.

Yes, thank you for correcting me. Took a guess since it had been a while since I hooked mine up. Knew I had a 50/50 shot of getting it right lol.

Same a taking a screw driver and crossing both terminals to crank it over, done that a million times, lol..

Yeah, I was doing that on my 77 before I got tired of being embarrassed by having to do that. So I took wiring from an old Pinto harness starter circuit so it was the right gauge. Ran it from the button and went through the firewall grommet to the "S" terminal, ran the other to a hot wire in the car. Worked perfect, especially on rainy days when I didn't want to be outside the car to start it.

Great advice on hot-wiring classic cars...

On a related note, does anyone know how to get inside without a key? I uh, bought a car with no keys and the doors are locked and the uh, seller said the title is in the glove box.

Call a locksmith, they can get into it with a tool called a slim-jim or similar, depending on the make and year of the car. Slides down along the window and hooks onto the latch.

The seller should pay for that I would think.
