headliner help
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:34:17 PM »
Anyone ever tried this product

http://www.stockinteriors.com/BowHeadliner.asp?Itemid=11804&MakeId=8&ModelId=203

I have an 80 wagon, however these stop at 79 should be the same right?

my biggest concern is how to tuck the sides and ends in once I get the bows back in and have it centered in the car.
Thanks
May the Lord bless

Yes they should fit. The sides tuck under the plastic rail that's along the sides. You might have to remove the windshield to put the front of the headliner under the seal. Get the  Ford body/chassis book for your year of car and it has a lot of pictures and instructions  etc....The web page(stockinteriors .com) should have instructions as well.

The headliner is stapled to the sides on the right and left, and there are triangular cut outs on a piece of metal under the rear cargo area panel which you stretch the headliner and the hooks grab and cut through to hold it in place. At the windshield area, the windshield needs to be pulled and it wraps around the upper lip of the windshield frame. Be sure to seal the corners of the windshield really well upon re-install, those are the most common areas to have pooling and leaks.

You will need to get a new windshield gasket, steel rubber carries it, about $96 shipped with a charter member 10% discount, or around $110 shipped without.

I just did this in my '73 wagon I have some pictures if you need some visual.

I have an 80 wagon I ma sure there will not be much difference in the install, except for the windshield in mine is glued in, however I could use a visual aid for this project if its not too much trouble.  either post a link or you can email them to me by using the buttons on here
Thanks
