Title: Removing windshield trim ('73)

After 10 years of watching surface rust roll across my '73 wagon's roof I'm going to epoxy prime it very soon.  I have the paint stripped and the surface Phosphoric Acid washed. I'm only hindered to getting this done by removing the windshield trim and finishing the prep. I don't want to bend it nor crack the windshield.


So, any tips on getting it removed would be appreciated. I assume there are those clips that go on pins welded to the body?

You are correct, there are clips holding the trim on. You will have to buy new clips because the old ones will be rusted and will break when you remove the trim. Check youtube to see if there are video's on the project. You can also hire a glass guy to remove the trim for you.

Well through a process of wiggling, pulling and praying I didn't crack the glass I got the trim pieces off.  One of the vertical pieces got slightly bent. I just laid it on a flat surface and roller-ed it with one of those screen cord installation tools and all is good.
