Remote Racing Mirror Repair
« on: June 12, 2013, 12:33:08 AM »
Mirrors and maintenance, I try to use my mirrors as much as possible and for years I never had a right mirror as my 77 didn't have one. But since I bought my Mustang ii I have the remote racing mirrors, which give you the little joystick to adjust. Well my passenger or R/H mirror does not stay adjusted, I will hit a bump and it will go all out of wack.

Unfortunately, the joystick adjuster does not work, and will shoot the mirror every direction other than the direction I want it to be pointed, is there a way to repair these mirrors? If so are you able to point me in the right direction.

Is the mirror on or currently off the car?  Sounds to me like the cables are installed on the wrong spot on the joystick.  The joystick housing should have a R,G,Y stamped in it to denote which cable goes where.  You can tell the color of the cables if you can peek thru the rubber sheeth. I would start there.

The mirrors are installed on the car... I haven't taken them apart, but they haven't ever moved right for me.
