intake.
« on: August 30, 2013, 08:00:11 PM »
I just came across an Offenhauser 4bbl intake, and Power by Ace header, for a 2.3. I know what the headers go for, and getting a great deal. What is a good price on the intake? I originally told him I wasn't interested, so I'm not sure what he wants yet. Any help woulf be great.

Bought mine through Esslinger over 15 years ago. Don't know what they go for now, but check with Esslinger for price.

seen them for $100 to $200 on E-bay. make sure it has all of the linkage or you'll have to make it your self. only carb that works out of the box is the 390 cfm holley which is getting VERY hard to find. hope this helps.

Fixed it!!!! By the way, there is a new Holley 390, and the only difference I can see, is it has a power valve where the old one had none. There on E-Bay every day in the $150-$200 range new. We put the intake and the old 390 on my sons Pinto autocross car, and ran like it had 50 more horsepower. Made a world of difference. We now use the Ranger FI intake with a Holley 350 two barrel carb. Works MUCH better, as the intake is very good with equal runner length. Go for it, you'll like it.

Ahh ok, couldn't figure why the 390 wouldn't work, lol, I'll have to look into that new one, wonder what the mileage will be?..

Well the fact that Holley added a power valve might make it worse, but you can block the power valve off and be back like the first 390. I also found the first 390 carb on the Corvair (E-Bay) site as it was a add on back when they were new. I really don't see why the new carb would not work. You might have to change the jets back to what was in the old carb, but that's no big deal. Hope this helps.

Yeah, power valve with take up some fuel, don't like to plug up the PV because you have to use a larger jet to compensate so it kinda defeats the purpose, I have a couple of 390's buried here someplace don't remember which ones they are though, guess I'll have dig them out and see what I got, if the 5200 gives me too much hassle I'll just switch over.

Well, I picked them both up. Header is in rougher shape than described. Def. Not off a 2.3. I am thinking it goes to a 2.0. No markings on the intake at all.

Post pics of the header, someone might want it if you can't use it. ;)
