well, since no one is answering any of my questions, i quess ill have to answer my own......
1) looks like i have a pony, cause black dash and column, sedans were color coded, its an original red car.
2) i ordered mII front v8 springs, hope they work....
3) quess ill leave those on as ive heard about wheel hop from ford leaf sprung cars...not set up as well as mopars....
4) i still want air shocks, cause im gettin v8 coils up front, and hopefully it will raise front end a little...
5) still would like to know if anyone has a stock headliner in their pinto w/a rollbar...
6) still want some old slots...

Mighty,

The 'Pony' is more of an interior or accessories option- the Pinto was created in 3 Models, the Sedan, Runabout and Wagon. The wagon speaks for itself but the sedan has a trunk and the runabout has a full glass hatch (except in 71 and early 72- 1/2 glass hatch on a runabout)

Do a search on our site for wheels, you will find MANY good posts describing what you will need to look for to get wheels that will work.

Hope this helps,

You will not need / want air shocks.
The Mll springs will be plenty to lift the front with a V8.
They will also have to be cut down. Do NOT use a torch. Use a zip blade on a grinder.
Springs should be for an Mll W/O air. Nice 100% square cut, so they stay (do not turn) in place.

Mine are 3+ inches less than 6 full coils.

May want to up-grade to Cal Tracks. Better system & cuts out binding.

To match up the front / back, you may want new rear springs.

Lots of shocks for your needs. What you get depends on what type of driving / racing you'll be doing.

Craigslist, ebay & swap meets are loaded with aluminum slots if you're running 5 lug wheels. 4 lug is another story in 14 & 15 inch.

thnx for the replys guys....
yah, im reconsidering the air shocks, didnt realize the shocks were staggered, i do need some lift though, looks like the front leaf eyelet can be lowered a hole, and maybe a small shackle kit in rear? what are my options for stiffer(ie, some lift) leaf springs ? didnt realize i had to cut the coils down, i did order mII w/o a/c. is there a new shock/leaf/axle(9") plate i could buy, cause mine is all welded with the traction bars..?  my centerlines are growing on me, but i still want slots.. 8)

If you have a local spring shop just get new main leaves. Otherwise several companies sell bolt in springs from $200 to 300 a pair in several rates. Landrum is one of them.

I have a stock headliner with roll bar in use. Just placed cardboard over bar while welding to prevent burnthrough and it was designed around keeping the headliner in place. 1978 model
