passenger door light
« on: June 02, 2013, 11:24:16 PM »
Hello all,

It's been so long since I've used the old wagon I don't remember if there was a switch for the overhead light to come on when you open the passenger side door.  I do know there is not one in my Runabout and I found that a bit odd.  Is there supposed to be one there or not?  Thanks!

One of my Pintos only had a drivers side pin switch but I can't remember which one. I seem to remember the hole wasn't even drilled on the passenger side.

The pin switch should be on the front door jamb (where the hinges are). Mine don't always come on, regardless of which door is open. Sometimes they stick.  :)
One can never have too many Pintos!

Its an option as far as I know it.  I have had a couple cars without them, just a plug on the pass side door jam.  On my 78 hatch, I looked into installing one but the wiring was not behind the kick panel which I thought was odd.  I figure it would be wired?  Anyway since I was planning on selling the car I did not go thru the trouble of wiring it.

Unless you got the convience package you did not get a passenger side dome light switch. The hole was plugged with a little plastic plug. See the attached picture, the plastic plug is right at the silver/black paint break line on the front door pillar. The other plug is from an after market under coating job.
