PS pump question
« on: December 19, 2013, 11:14:04 AM »
Okay, have a question for all those more knowledgeable than me (pretty much everyone!-Lol!) The ps pump on my 1978 Bobcat 2dr. base wagon went out- 2.3l , btw - and I was looking on ebay for a replacement. the original pump when removed was marked HBC X on the reservoir, but I was curious as to whether or not one marked HBC V would work? any help is appreciated.

Well, it turns out that not only did the pump lock up on me, when I pulled the pulley off to put on a new pump, evidently somehow the inside of the pulley itself is so worn, it won't press onto any other pump- tried a new(remanufactured) pump from NAPA, and you gcan slide the pulley off and on by hand, and even found an older used C11 pump with the same tag (HBC X) and the same thing- looks like no p/s till I find another 2 groove pulley... :(
