Title: Procomp distributors?
Post by: Jauntimus Prime on May 31, 2012, 05:24:46 PM
Hey all. I'm looking for some simple ways of squeezing a little more power outta my '77 2.3 for when I finally get her back on the road this summer. She's getting a Hedman header and brand new exhaust, and I decided that hotter ignition and a nice advance curve might be a good next step. So I'm looking at a MSD 6A kinda setup but... does anyone have any experience with Procomp knockoff distributors? I hear mixed reviews about them, but the idea of paying 1/3 the price of a MSD dizzy is appealing. Are they compatible with the actual MSD boxes? Thanks guys, any insight would help!

I ran a procomp with a 6AL triggering it< Worked fine with my setup at the time. I did shear the roll pin on the drive gear, so you might want to cross pin or use a harder/larger roll pin. Also, this dist will not fit with an offy dual port intake without some mods to the manifold. Fit fine with the FI lower< JT

I'm running a Pro Comp dizzy in my '89 Chevy dually. It's been in there 6 years so far without a missed beat. The stocker was junk & I got the whole distributor new in the box for the price of my bad module in mine.

I would buy another one without batting an eye.
