2.3 timing
« on: October 12, 2012, 01:05:22 PM »
ive been having issues with my timing since i put on a new timing belt. it was running kinda iffy after but still drivable without worry. i was at a part store and one of the mechanics tried to get it nailed down and ever since he messed with it its been very doggy and backfires. he said he couldnt find the marks for the timing light on the cover. can anybody steer me in the right direction. i gotta get this running better

That's because the timing marks are on the crankshaft pulley and the timing pointer is on the front engine cover.....If he had a book he would know....So get a book and check out some sites IE Turboford etc for good pictures...... The 2.3 has a timing mark on the cam pulley, the distributor has a timing mark(#1 cylinder) and the all ready mentioned timing marks on the crank etc.....I would not trust most of the geeks to check the battery let alone the car....
