Post by: dennisofaz on February 28, 2018, 11:52:11 AM
Hi, I have a 74 Runabout with a 2.3 and I need to know what the point gap souuld be, and what the fuel pump pressure should be.  Thank you in advance!

Point gap is .027 with dwell reading of 35-41 degrees. Timing is 6 degrees BTDC vacuum hose disconnected at distributor. Idle 850 rpm standard 750 auto in Drive. Plugs AGRF-52 gap is .034. Fuel pump pressure between 3.5-4.5 lbs and volume would probably run around a pint in 20 seconds. Total timing advance should approach 47 degrees.  Base 6 degrees, centrifugal advance 32 degrees, vacuum 4.3 degrees. You should see total centrifugal at 4700 rpm. I pulled all this information out of a 1974 Motor auto repair manual. A little more information than you asked for but since I had the book open thought I might as well list it for you.

Hi nnn0wqk, Thank you very much for the information!  I will try a 4-7lb electric fuel pump and see how it goes!
