I recently received a 72 or 73 pinto runabout that has been sitting for about 24 years. it was manufactured 12/72 so unsure. it has the 2.0 and is automatic. It was my wifes dream car growing up. It was her grandfathers and she use to play in it when she was younger and now im trying to fix it up for her. I have spent plenty of time under mustangs but i dont even know where to start on the pinto. Its missing some hoses and wiring and i have never even looked under the hood of one until now. does anyone know where can i find a wiring diagram and possibly vacuum diagram for it? Thank you in advance for all help.

Welcome! I can't help you with the diagrams but I'm sure somebody here will be able to. The first number of the VIN designates the model year. Yours should be a 2 or a 3, accordingly. If the car was manufactured in December of 1972, it's going to be a '73 model, but you can check the VIN to verify that.

Thank you I figured it would be a 73 but I wasn't sure if that's always the way that has worked. I knew they built it a year earlier now but didn't know how the 70s worked with that.

If in or around the big city you may easily find them in the reference section of a nice public library....... .............. ...

As it happens I've been to 2 oldtimer meetings in Belgium last saturday, in Gent and Roeselare, in Roeselare I picked up a complete set of 1973 Ford Car Shop Manuals Vol I-V.
Back home I searched the Net to find out if these pop up more often. To my surprise I found that forelpublishin g.com has all these digitalized, and you can download a complete set for $ 16.95. Because my car is actually a 1972, I downloaded that one too.
They don't state anywhere that the Pinto is in these books, but it is, 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines included. All the official info you'll ever want is there in 1600 plus digitalized pages. So much easier to print out what you need in the garage, and throw it away after you spill some brake oil over it...
