Replacing front seats
« on: February 25, 2013, 10:48:53 PM »
I am looking to replace the front seats in my 75 wagon. Would like to get some feedback from anyone who has replaced there front seats and what donor vehicle offers the best seat with the least modifications.
Thanks.

I cant say for sure but I wonder if fairmont seats would fit. I got some prety nice seats years ago at a junk yard but the whole front of the car from windshield forward was gone. And from back glass back was gone.I still dont know what that car really was. They are a little higher so if youre kind of tall you might have to think about your driving habits and how you look for cars at intersections. I have that problem but I still like them :)

I bought Scat Procar seats for my '73 but those require work to mount them.

I have found that Tempo/Topaz seats, as well as the 1990 & older Escorts can fit with minimal modifications.

Thanks r4pinto.
That's the kind of information I was looking for. I will check them out the next time I visit pick a part. I don't mind reworking the track to get the seat to fit just wanted a starting point. Anyone else with information on seat replacements?

i used 1994 tom 96 ford mustang seats, direct bolt in using pinto seat rails. will not work on my 77/78 pinto due to the fact ford changed the seat hole placement on the floor.

I had reclining front seats from an 84 Chevy Cavalier in my 71, bolting the later model Pinto seat tracks only required drilling one hole for each side. But they do sit lower than original seats.
