Pinstriping my pinto.
« on: June 21, 2017, 11:44:32 PM »
Hello all.. i need some opinions.

One of the fellows that I hang out with here in texas is a really good pinstriper and since Ive been detailing my car for the stampede, I asked him his advice and he suggested doing some pinstriping on it.

He is really good and does a lot of cars and motorcycles in the dallas area.

He said that it would be a fun project for him and said he was willing to do the car for like $75 which I thought is really cheep.

He wants to do a line from front fender to rear, then some work over the wheels and rear door.

He suggested doing the striping in gold or maybe dark red.

I am leaning more toward dark red so as to be more subtle. I thought gold might be too gaudy like the fellows who gold plate the chrome on their cars.

I am including some pix of my car for reference.

What do you all think gold, dark red or none

It appears to me that you have a silver roof and cowl and that there are black stripes on the hood.  All things considered, I don't think I would introduce a fourth color.  I'd either go with silver to better tie the secondary color to the red, or black to go with the existing stripes.  But, first and foremost, it's YOUR car and you should do it however you think will look best.  For the record, $75 is dirt cheap for professional pinstriping!

Thanks Dwayne..

Thats sort of what I was thinking..

The idea came up in casual.convers ation but in thinking about it i didnt want to make the car look too "fancy" right now it has sort of a basic classic look and I didnt want to make it look too "messed with".

Seems like too much artwork might make it look too girly?

Ill try to get a better idea of what he wants to do before i commit.. or maybe just Ill jus t pass on the striping all together unless be just wants to do a few simple accent lines...

Any one else want to comment...

If you know anyone that can photo shop stuff, have them pin stripe it & you'll have an idea if you like it...... ?

Other than that, looks good as is...... except I think it would look better with something like Cragar SS wheels ?
