« on: July 18, 2013, 01:04:58 PM »
Im trying to buy a car thats 550miles away. The cars been sitting a while the guy says it starts the brakes and exhaust are good and it doesnt overheat. The tires `arent that bad`

I can take greyhound there for $130 but what do I need to rent to get it back with if I cant drive it that far?

if the seller has confidence in the  car he is selling then suggest that he meet you half way .. if it`s a clunker he will most likely decline ....

He says the only real problem he sees is the electric fan doesnt run, but If Im on the highway it should be ok. He said driving up and down his street the temp went back down right away.

Now will it immediately overheat the minute I get off the highway?

My house is 5 or 6 blocks from the highway exit.

Anyone you know have a pickup with a hitch & wiring? Reserve a tow dolly at Uhaul near him, drive the truck there, get the dolly & bring the car home then drop the dolly at your Uhaul. It's $38 give or take

From sitting, my hoses and tires went when I bought my Pinto, and they looked good. Tow if you can...

Aw... where's your sense of adventure?  I've driven home every car I ever bought and that includes a Continental Mark V that had been sitting for nearly ten years.  Had some necessary work performed on it before I left Illinois and drove it 800+ miles home to Virginia!  I'm not saying it's smart... but it CAN be done!

I just loaded this 73 yesterday and delivered today. Going to put it next to those 2 Mustangs. This is the best way when U don't know cars condition.  Fred   ;)

I wouldn't drive it home either. Bought a 78 Pinto & it died on the way home. charging system was shot. Bought a 77 Pinto & had it towed home. Bought an 80 Pinto & 10 miles away from the guys house the LF tire blew out & fuel leaking everywhere.

It made it home the 540 miles pretty good. Now I own a 1978 Pinto wagon and a 1984 Corvette :)

I needed the getaway and wish my boyfriend had some sense of adventure he was a real downer.
