Title: photos of 1976 OE hood striker
Post by: chrisa850 on June 24, 2014, 09:57:56 AM
If anyone has photos of the hood striker and/or hood latch assist spring (if it had one) from their 1976, I'd love to see them. My 76 is missing the spring steel plate that attaches to the hood itself where the latch holds the hood down when closed. I'm completely missing the part labeled 16C644 in the attached drawing, but it doesn't look like it would even fit correctly if I had it.

I believe 74-76 are the same. My car is an "early" 1976 (built 11/75).

A simple coil spring of correct length and value and screwed down to the 'L' plate that the latch mounts to can replace that OEM leaf spring easily.
