Motorcraft 2100 vacuum lines and power valve question.
« on: August 31, 2012, 05:33:56 AM »
This carb is on a 2.3L 1980 ford pinto with a PVC spacer and stock intake

Car runs bad on idle and I noticed all the vacuum lines were capped ? Only thing going to the carb is the fuel line

I noticed that the car has a vacuum advance hose, another somewhat big hose running under the intake from the block connected to a check valve (Check valve has two spouts) then tampered down to a long 5/8 hose, Some kind of plastic breather that's on the valve cover also has a big hose connected to it. That's all the hoses I could see at the moment oh wait theres also theres a stem that has about 3 inlets coming from the intake manifold the looks like it once was used as a vacuum but is now all caped off.

Motorcraft carb is also rebuilt but now one issue after mounting and cranking over I noticed that the power valve inlet leaks very bad ? Is gasoline suppose to come out off there? The power valve is brand new? Only thing I can think of is that I put the wrong gasket on (theres a round one and a triangle one). Should I just cap it?

Also where does all the vacuum hoses go, what are useless inlets that should be capped, does a hose go to the power valve inlet to a vent or something? etc etc etc..

Searching on the internet only gave me the answer of ( You should of marked the hoses before removing) But I bought the car like this with hoses all over the place!

Diagrams, info very much needed

Greatly appreciated need this car to run before winter

P.S ) I do not need emission junk or test for this year of vehicle

Solved my own question I had the idle screw out to much and vacuumed sealed the powervalve also putting the air breather on helped it run less richer. Still runs a little rich but I guess its because its such a big carb on a small in-line 4. Anyone else having trouble with the vacuum line routing use this link it really helped http://street2mud.com/webfiles/MC-2100%20set%20up%20for%20a%20258.pdf
