head removal
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:55:50 PM »
Hello all,

Trying to get the head removed to get it reworked for bigger valves and a roller cam.  Just wondering though, does the water pump need to come of to remove the head in a 76 2.3L?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Water pump is on the block it can stay, but they'll want the T-stat housing off to clean the head.

Cool that's what I was thinking about the water pump.  Where is the thermostat housing?  This is my first time ever going this deep in an engine, so I'm learning as I go!  Thanks for your response!

It's right above the water pump on the head, follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator it'll lead you right to it, two little bolts and it comes off.
