Is it possible to remove the points and condenser on a 2.0 distributer and go to a aftermarket electronic ignition like they are selling on e-bay?

I've use PerTronix systems on several different vehicles with very good results. Part # 1847V is the number for 2.0 engines. The website doesn't give a price but they aren't that expensive. http://www.pertronix.com/default.aspx

Thanks RSM for the info. Is it hard to install and is the kit complete with everthing that is needed?

They are simple to install. Almost just like replacing a set of points. The instructions are very detailed so installing is easy.

From all the research I've done on these kits, it seems really simple to install, and as RSM stated, it's just like changing a set of points but minus the condenser. From what I've read, you can even use your original coil!

My 73 Station Wagon came with a Crane Cams Fireball XR700 points eliminator kit. I haven't played with it since I swapped it out for Points, but I think my issue is due to a missing tab on the optical shutter wheel. Unfortunately it's about $50 to get a kit with ALL of the shutter wheels and not just the one I need. I can't bring myself to pay that much when I don't even know if the control module is any good. I won't play with it until I get some other bugs on the car figured out.

I found one place that has the PerTronix for about $70 and they reccomend replacing the coil. If you use a coil with the wrong resistance it will burn the PerTronix out.
