New window rubber issue 71 72 Pinto trunk model
« on: October 29, 2015, 01:48:23 AM »
Guys who have the trunk model 71 72 Pinto: I bought a brand-new rubber seal for rear window from Steel Rubber and it does not work. The groove for the chrome strip does not go all the way to the bottom of the rubber on both sides. The Glass shop refused to cut into the rubber because then the window would not seal. The old rubber had to be re-installed. Has anyone had this same issue? Is the new rubber seal supposed to have a continuous groove for chrome all the way around?

On my 78, the trim cut is continuous along the bottom of the glass, but the trim cut around the curvature of the glass has a 1/8 or 1/4 inch "stop" or "space" of material between the top trim pieces and the bottom, so that the trim doesn't slide downwards.
