I recently purchased a 1 owner, 1972 Pinto Wagon. (Came with all receipts, original bill of sale, etc.)  It was a summer car on Martha's Vineyard. 58000 non highway, slow miles.  It was well serviced, stored on blocks in the winter up till 2 years ago when it was put outside under some trees when the owner died.   It is far from perfect; runs rough, needs reupholstering, carpets, padded dash, it has a real sloppy repaint job, needs a grill, rust in doors and up on top where the roof rack was screwed on.  I have never restored a car but I am going to try.  Carb. and emissions control has me baffled.  (Plumbers nightmare.) fuses all ok but radio, dashlights, and windshield washers don't work.  Heater contols siezed.  (I am getting way ahead of myself.)

I have located some parts thru an online salvage yard (pricey).  I NEED a comprehensive, all inclusive service manual that includes exploded views, wiring schematics, plumbing schematics, etc.  I look forward to hearing from you all.  Happy Holidays.  JT

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new Pinto.

Fred Morgan is the go to guy for Pinto parts. If he doesn't have it, he will see if I do! LOL I don't know the parts like he does, but I have stripped a few Pintos in the last year or so.

For the service manual, I would look on Ebay or even try Amazon.com. I have a Clymer 71-80 manual. It has the wiring diagrams but they arn't the best and are not in color. It also has some exploded views of things. I'm not sure what other service manuals are out there. I think I have one or two other one's but they aren't close by to see what they are right off hand.

Now, I'm sure we would all love to see some pics! :D

I purchased the five volume Ford shop manuals, and one more for 72 from ebay. They have all kinds of manuals. About a 100 bucks worth. Might save me some hair, heck I don't have any already.  ;D

Get the Ford Shop Manuals for your model year...Their not just for the Pinto and can be priceless down the road...Also fear not, most of the mechanical parts are still available from local parts stores or on line like Rock Auto..If your wiring hardness is toast others have used Painless wiring harness's however the price is not Painless.If the fuse block is toast try to use a replacement from Blue Sea Systems. Amazon has them and get a 12 circuit system. I'm getting ready to install one on my 1976 it has a Postive Bus and it should be (easy) to install....I hope.
