removing a rear axle
« on: November 19, 2012, 05:31:18 PM »
Have never torn into a rear-end before but thought taking a rear axle out of a Pinto rear end would be rather simple.  Haven't cracked the code yet!  I'm looking for a video or step by step photo guidance.  It's probably something simple but I can't find it.  Any help available?

6.7 is most common. Remove brake shoes. Using 9/16" wrench loosen the 4 bolts holding bearing retainer cap on.   Fred   :)

Then use a big freaking slide hammer bolted to the studs and slide the slide hammer back and forth until loose. Make sure that the slide hammer flange is bolted on the wheel studs tight or you can strip the studs....Prett y easy...
