I cant seem to get the brakes right on my pinto (74 Wagon). Ive replaced the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders and the front and rear hoses, and bled and bled and bled and bled the system and I simply cant get the brakes right. It always requires one pump before the pedal is full and firm. Ive read the proportioning valve could be the problem, and it is not available new that I can find. I was wondering if maybe I could use a fox mustang valve or something from a similar sized car with front disc and rear drum brakes. Am also thinking about a NEW (not reman) Ranger master cylinder... (Maybe a ranger proportioning valve will work?) A pinto MC isnt available new, and i kinda feel like a 40 year old master cylinder probably wont work right even after its been rebuilt... so I want a new modern style MC from a ranger and some kind of NEW proportioning valve.
Any ideas ??
