Need help with some parts
« on: September 06, 2015, 06:32:53 PM »
I have always been fascinated with anything Ford.  I came across a Pinto Station wagon with production date of 10/75 (presumably a 76').  The 5th digit in the VIN was a Y.  The vehicle has some goodies; including, air conditioning, powering steering.

The Compressor bracket had an engineering number of D4ZH-2882-AB.  The alternator/smog pump?? had eng number D5ZE-10039-AA.  The power steering pump brackets (2) did not have any part number associated with same.

Can anyone tell me if these parts were used on just Pintos or other Ford/Mercury makes/models, engine sizes and years?

I have added a photo of the engine bay as I was thinking that the engine may have not been original to the vehicle.

They were also used on bobcats and mustang II with the 2.8 , after 79 the 2.8 was not an option anymore and the A/C compressors changed later , here is a photo of mine with all the stuff hooked up ,
76 Pinto sedan V6 , 79 pinto cruiser wagon V6 soon to be diesel or 4.0

Thanks for the reply.  It appears that the engine that I photographed would have been swapped out at some point given that the VIN was a "y' code which would have been the 2.3 4 cylinder? Am I correct. Or, was a/c braket, alternator/smog pump bracket the same for both the 6 cyl and 4 cylinder vehicles?
