Looking for info on 2.3
« on: March 14, 2013, 01:35:32 AM »
I have a 75 wagon with a 2.8 and c4. Would like to put a 2.3 and 5 spd. in the wagon. Looking at the motor mount perches they are stamped V6. will these work for a 2.3? Also I would need to change the fromt coil springs? Would drive train out of early Ranger bolt in? If so,what year would be the best to look for?

No change to the front springs or as far as I know the motor mounts. Search here to be sure. The best Ranger engine if you want an EFI engine would be from the Mid 80's I guess anything that did not have that quasi EFI/Carb set up.....Like the 1980 Ford Pinto in Calif....

If you want a non-turbo EFI try a '86-'87ish Mustang 4 banger/T-5 drivetrain. I bought a whole running '87 Mustang with this drivetrain just for that purpose.

You will need 2.3L engine mounts & front sump oil pan with pickup tube for a Pinto. I heard the V6 frame mounts work with a 2.3L as well so give it a shot.

I dont think the EFI intake will clear the stock hood by much so a scoop may be needed. The wiring looks fairly easy to install with the computer. I wish I was in the midst of the swap so I could provide pics but I'm not ready yet.
