Need Help!!Nuts, Bolts and Washers???
« on: March 06, 2012, 11:43:36 PM »
Well I'm getting close to going home and the 72 is waiting on me to put him back together. My question is... If it doesn't sound to stupid. If someone was going to buy Nuts , Bolts and Washer to have on standby while rebuilding their 72. what different sizes and types would one by. I'm not asking, 2...... 1/2 '' bolts right side front end. I'm speaking in general so I'm fixing/building instead of making 100 runs back and forth to the parts house.

JohnBig..

I found an eBay auction from the UK that had a 2000cc 'Bolt Kit' - It has really helped me. I looked on there several times in the past few months and he was still selling the kit.  I had to cut a few bolts to size (Motor mount to engine plates, Fuel Pump) too long.. but everything else was really good. It's nice to have all new bolts to look at after building your engine on the stand.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Scott.

I'll look into them for sure. How about the front end and etc. My hood latch is seperate. in a box, battery tray, brake lines need to be installed...et c.

I just hate to be under the car and need something from the parts house.. My time is very limited, while I'm home.

Thanks again,

Can't give you specifics there- I too know the joy of 'missing' a screw during reassembly, just be nice to the parts or hardward guy when you make the trek.

go to the local bone yard and find a couple 70's fords that are all still sae on the body.  rob them blind of every easy to steal screw and bolt. snag all the fender clips and everything.  take it to your local plater and have them do a clear cad plating on it.   its less than a buck a pound and they usually have a 25 dollar min charge.  the nice thing is they run them through a tumbler, get off all the paint rust and scale, they come out all silver and shiny.  when they are done you have correct washered ford bolts and not a bunch of generic hardware store junk.   and this is way way cheaper than actually buying an assortment.   I do it once every couple years.  just go rob stuff for a few hours and get a big pail together.

Modest beginnings start with the single blow of a horn man..    Now when you get through with this thing every dickhead in the world is gonna wanna own it.   Do you know anything at all about the internal combustion engine?
