I have a FORD 1977 2.3 OHC, 4 Cylinders engine. It is the same PINTO engine. It is the heart of my Jeep Ford, a CJ-6 made in Brasil by Ford. Manual transmission. Not computer or electronics. Plain old style, 4 spark-plugs, distributor with points and capacitor, coil. This is a street car, not racing. I need help finding the right carburetor for this engine. Please what brand, model, part #, cfm, is the matching carburetor for this engine?.

It should be a Holley/Weber Model 5200 two barrel.

Looking online I found 2 items: 1st item: Cylinders L 4 - Liter: 5.7 - Engine Size: 122 - Manufacturer: Holley - UREMCO Part #: 7-7396 - Product Notes: Carb 5200. 2nd. item: Cylinders: L 4 - Liter: 5.7 - Engine Size: 140 - Manufacturer: Holley - UREMCO Part #: 7-7399 - Product Notes: Carb 5200. I noticed the only difference is in the engine size. I am not sure if mine is 122 or 140, how could I get this?

Hi Ranger,
If your engine is the 2.3, and from the picture it is, that is the 140 cuin motor. The 5200 carb is different from yours, but should bolt up to your intake. You might have to modify your throttle linkage to work properly.

After taking a look at a lot of pictures online yours is a 2.3 Ford Pinto motor so use the 7-7396. Where are you located, I have some rebuilt carbs just setting in my storage unit. They are set up for a 1976 Ford Pinto with a manual transmission and have the electrical choke. The only thing needed is the idle solenoid. Mine did not work.

Sorry I am late to reply. First, I really appreciate your help. Congratulation s for your tremendous knowledge on Pinto engines. It was being hard for me to get this info. I am in Tampa, Fl until June 11, then I am going back to Colombia. My car is over there. With the knowledge you shared with me, I am going to look for more specific details from my engine. I want to determine if it is a 122 or 140 ci. Sure one of your carbs could work on mi engine.

Not so much knowledge , basically any 5200 Holley/Weber carburetor should work as long as it's not worn out or has allot of varnish due to our gas having alcohol added to it. I will take a look at my engine and count how many cam towers I have and you can use that info to ID your engine. I do not want to make a W.A.G. (wild butt guess). If anyone else has a picture of a 2.0 and 2.3 head with out the valve cover post it, it's hard to tell on the out of U.S.A. engines what he has. For example the timing cover looks a little different from what I have on my 2.3 but the engine as far as I can see is a 2.3.

Okay more info I guess the 2.0 has three cam towers and the 2.3 has four. At least the 2.3 Turbo coupe head in my garage has 4 cam towers.

Your spot on in regards to the cam towers. 3 towers = 2.0.... 4 towers =2.3
