does anybody know who the german manufacturer of the 2.8 engine was?  the running joke with me, it must have been Pfaff because when they're running good it sounds like an industrial sewing machine!

Yes but, when you run an Offy dual plane intake, Holley 390 and open headers at the strip the sewing machine sound gets drowned out nicely!

It was made by Ford Motor Company in Cologne Germany. It is often referred to as the Cologne V6.

I thought it was rather funny when Ford made a big too-doo at the initial introduction about how the Contour/Mystique/Mondeo was Ford's first 'world car', they were doing that long before then.......... ..it got a bit ridiculous when you had to use both SAE and metric tools on the earlier cars, they could not make up their minds as to which standard to go with.

That was the Escort first I think AMC. They even put a world emblem on the fenders. LOL I know I had a wagon once. But yeah, the world car LOL

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they dusted the term off and recycled it more than once. Way back when I first got the 'tour I went over the car and Euro Mondeo and specs and trying to find out just exactly what they make 'the same' when doing that. To me they were already doing it.

I could be mistaken, the term was thrown about quite a bit at one time.......... ....
