What type of oil should I use to change the gear oil in a 1975 manual 4-speed 74WT top-loader transmission?

I use a 80-90w gear oil

Redline MT-90 75W-90 GL4 will protect your synchros.   
it will also smooth out your shifting. 

You can buy it from Summit Racing online.

      RED LINE IS THE OIL TO USE BAR NONE.

If you go to GL-5 which automatically has slip additive in it like for Positrac limited slip units it would probably be even smoother and the synchro brake surface would not wear as fast.......... ..

 I got a rebuilt transmission for my 78 6 or 7 year ago,all I used was pennzoil 90w I think they sell a type for hypoid gears. I know the gears in the transmission arent straight cut thats why ou cant shift too well without a clutch like some other cars. So I would assume the hypoid gear lube would be good. My transmission is still perfect and so quiet :)
