new gas tank and fuel sending unit question
« on: October 19, 2014, 09:24:53 PM »
So I installed a new fuel tank and a new fuel sending unit for my 76 hatchback.  I'm having trouble getting the electrical hookup back onto the sending unit.  Seems like no matter what I do it is just too short, like 1/8" or so.  I've tried to tighten the tank to get it as high as I can but it's in there seems like as tight as it'll go.  I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has installed a new tank and had this issue?

It sounds like the wire is pinched someplace. It should have some slack

Just an update, there was no wires pinched, but I did have to cut and extend the old wires and then use a snap connect female end to cover each male end of the fuel sending unit.  I haven't hooked up the battery or fired it up yet, but I'm hoping that works.
