Title: Lower EFI manifold newbe

Hi, I've looked around at using a lower (1987 Ranger) EFI intake. I saw where one mounting hole had to transfered and drilled/tapped in the cylinder head and I'm good with that. My question is how far out is the manifold with/without a spacer bolted on top? The stock manifold I have is approximately 7" from the cylinder head to the outer carb flange bolt. I am working on a highly modified Pinto ;) and want to move the carburetor position for clearance and what appears to me better distribution of fuel (in my mind). I have a '74 2.3 with the stock oval port head. So, will the ports line up? Or some clearencing be required. Also is coolant be passed through the intake? I'll be putting a Holley 2bbl carb. I'm looking to get the carb orientated with the barrels of the carb inline with the cylinders but can't stick to far to the left of the engine. I figure this is the best place to go.

SILVER SEAL OFFERED AN ADAPTER TO USE EFI MANIFOLD ON OVAL PORT HEADS.ITS NOT SHOWN ANY MORE IT THEIR CAT.  I HAVE AN OLDER CAT. AT WORK AND WILL CALL SILVER SEAL AND CHECK STOCK.I BOUGHT 2 OF THEM ABOUT 10 YRS AGO ,I SOLD 1 AND STILL HAVE 1 .

Thanks. Yes, after looking into this further I found that you could do it by marking, drilling and tapping for 1 intake bolt an could clean up/match the ports. I was able to get a measurement, so it ruled out using the EFI intake, it is 1"+ wider than the stock '74 intake. :( I did look at a OMC Cobra intake. These are Marine 2.3's. Basically the same 2.3engine but the bolt on stuff is different. The intake looks like the Esslinger which I called and are out of stock with no delivery date. I'm thinking it'll need a carb adaptor to fit my Holley. It appears to be narrow and a pretty straight flow pattern, I just won't put water to it. I was also looking at the Mallory distributors on these engines. This is something else I'll use. Not going to run any kid of ignition box so finding a good points distributor to start with works for me. Have you or anyone else tried these marine parts on the streets? Thanks again

I AM RUNNING AN INTAKE OFF A '75 MODEL, BETTER THAN THE LATER ONES, FUEL DOES'NT PUDDLE IN IT.I BRAZED UP THE WATER PORT AND DID SOME PORT WORK ALSO. I AM RUNNING MSD DISTRIBUTOR ,6A BOX AND COIL.WEBER 36/36 CARB.WITH A CUSTOM GRIND 420 LIFT ERSON CAM BRINGS THE LITTLE MOTOR TO LIFE.
