Actually found this for sale a few years back. I'll try and dig up what I printed out at the time. I believe it was the Pace Car for that race. Here is the link to the Pocono Raceway Contact page - maybe they can help you out as well.

Found the data I mentioned before. It was on 12/14/2003 that I came across a Pinto like yours for sale on ebay. Here is what was listed.

==================================================================

1979 ford pinto panel wagon ( coco cola )
Ford : pinto panel wagon
Miles: 93000
Doors: 2 doors
Transmission: Automatic
Interior: Black
Engine: 8 - cyl.
Year: 1979
Warranty: No
VIN Number: 9t12y287083
Title: Clear
Exterior: Red
Condition: Used

Options
- Cassette

Seller:  Larry Green Chevy

Vehicle Description
- You are bidding on a unique, hot rod. It has been customized with a rebuilt high perfomance 1968 289 with only 13,000 miles. It has a C4 automatic transmission with a B&M ratchet shift kit. I have been told the Coco Cola salesmen used these cars for their routes in the 70'S. Not sure if this is one of those cars.

Vehicle Condition
- This is an older restoration. Although in very good condition, there are a few flaws. Tail-gate has a minor dent. Bottom right front fender has some paint peeling. Rear quarter panels have a few minor scratches. Head liner has a couple of small tears, and the transmission has a leak.
==================================================================

I'd be curious to see if it is the same car (via VIN match)  - BruceF

Have some pics too if interested let me know and I'll post them somewhere where you can view them.

 The picture is kind of small and hard to see much but it sure does look like a 1978. If the headlights are square its not 1978. Im just going by what I can see though. The front bumper on my 1978 wagon is all chrome no black end pieces. And the fenders dont seem to have the rubber front extension but thats more an impression not enough detail. Of course someone couldve changed the fenders and bumper.  9T12y is a 1979. Mine is8T12y.

Here is a link to pics I have from when I saw one on ebay back in 2003 - definitely a 1979.

Great looking '79 pinto, but if you look close that front bumper is an '80 (rubber endcaps the only difference). The rear is 1979. No biggie...just had to mention it.

And it's missing the rubber trim pieces at the ends of the side filler pieces, almost as if it was an assembled sedan delivery.

Or did sedan deliveries not have the pieces as on the Cruisin' Wagons?

I have a bone stock from the factory Sedandelivery and the bumper only has the rubber side pieces on the bumper not the rubber strips on the face of the bumper, but it does have the vertical bumper guards, if those items are to what you are referring.

It's licensed, insured , and inspected as of July. I put new carpet, dash cap, repaired the door hinges, new water pump and carb, etc, etc. I drive it when I can. Outside no rust but needs a painting, as the ghost of the previous company's owners name is visible but I kind of like the rat-rod look for now. Every time I take it out I get many compliments and remarks. The data plate on the door post lists the vehicle type as a truck, which I think is neat. The inside is very unusual, has a truck headliner and never had a back seat. The future? I would like a Postal Pinto in nice shape.
