Lexan Headlight Covers
« on: September 28, 2015, 09:11:45 AM »
I have a 1980 Pinto, and my dad use to have the lexan covers to protect the headlights.

He still have the covers, and I was thinking about putting them on possibly and seeing how they look.

Does anybody else have these covers on? Was this like an old-school look / accessory?

Thanks
Nick in CT

I am pretty sure those were an aftermarket item.  If I remember correctly, they were made by GTS.  Years ago there was a 79 wagon that was local to me that had a set.  They were screwed onto the headlight bezel which I did not like as that made them hard to remove.  I am not sure if that is what you need to do to mount them or if that is just how that owner did it.  I do not have a set for my Pinto but I do I run clear ones on my 86 Saleen Mustang The ones on my Saleen use a couple slotted l-bracket things to hold them in the headlight openings.  This makes them easy to remove.  They work fine driving at night however when it rains a lot, they make it hard to see at night  due to all the rain drops and condensation.  So when that happens I remove them for safety.  When it dries out, I put them back on.
