Title: Keep original or a better shade of blue
Post by: Runaboutblu72 on March 18, 2014, 07:22:34 AM
Ok group getting ready to paint my 1972 Runabout. The original color is 3B or Light Blue which I just don't like. The interior is off white and blue with the seats being blue and black houndstooth. I was thinking either a darker blue and keep inside original or making it a Sprint replica. Any color of blue thoughts?

I think I'm partial to the idea of a Sprint replica!

Keep it the light blue and add some dark blue stripes. Cut down on spray time, like the door jams and underhood.

IMO  no point in spending time and money to get a car painted a colour you don't like, it takes away from the enjoyment of owning that car, and youre always wishing it was different.
Its not like concours restored pintos are bring big dollars, also a paint job is not permanent, it can always be changed.
My opinion is its your car, make it the way you want it. You will be happier with the car in the long run.

I like the blue found on 2013 Mustangs and some of the other vehicles in the Ford lineup called Deep impact blue, Ford code M7289.
When I get around to re-painting my car thats the color I'll be looking at :-)
