Silver Button is your headlight brights-

Sounds like your trunk has not been opened in a while- You may need to spray some penetrating oil on the mech from inside of the car...

And..., just in case you didn't know, the silver stick with the round thing on the end..., that's to open the window if moved in a circular motion.  ;)

Monday's lesson:   Power door locks (slide elbow back, lift, then drop).

Tuesday's lesson: Power seats (Forward - push seat lever, slam on brakes) (Backwards - push seat lever, dump clutch).

Wednesday's lesson: Navigation system (open glove box, place map on passenger seat, reference map as needed).

Thursday's lesson: Clock adjustment (place cell phone on dash - done).

Friday's lesson: Trip meter (write current mileage on post it note / reference "driven" mileage later. Digital calculation feature requires disabling clock from Thursday's lesson).

FYI, my daughter who has now been driving for 2+ years just yesterday found out about the day/night mirror adjustment in her Mazda 3.  She knew it was there, used it, but thought it was for looking at the twins in the back seat that she "Nannies."  ::)

I had to ask my dad about the headlight button too.  It's just not something most our generation has ever seen.

As far as Wittsend's lesson plan, (not applicable to pintos but...) you forgot the lesson explaining what the second key is for.  In high school I drove an 80's cutlass ciera and when I let any of my friends drive it they couldn't figure out why the key that opened the door wouldn't start the car.  ::)

Things like that seem strange to us "kids" but make perfect sense once we've seen it.

While we are at it I would like to make an official apology on behalf of my generation for our terrible music and lack of attractive cars.   ;D
Bought a 1978 hatchback to be my first car.

So you have to be how old to drive old car's....Hell at least your not trying to start a M-151 Jeep , there are no key switches , just move the switch to start and hit the starter button on the floor...As for rolling up the windows "What are windows ?". Or for that matter "what are  doors".

Thanks for the laugh, guys! :)

Sometimes I have gotten annoyed by the lack of intermittent wipers in older cars, then I remember that the settings on those systems always seem to be either just a little faster or slower than what is needed, so you wind up having to mess with them anyway. lol

One of the upgrades I made to mine when I had the windshield replaced was a day night rear view mirror. Figured a Squire Wagon would have all the bells and whistles but apparently these weren't even an option. Had to use a GM one but it doesn't know it's in a Ford.

When was the last time you were in a car without one? My new cars are even automatic.

The last several new vehicles I've owned have been equipped with rain-sensing windshield wipers - solves that problem altogether!
