Hi everyone!
First ever post here. I just bought a `72 wagon and absolutely love it! I took it in to a local garage that I trust to work on my older cars and they said my thermostat housing is badly deteriorated and needs to be replaced. I used to do all my own "hobby car" wrenching, but my sight has degraded to the point that I need help with a lot of this stuff. I'm having really bad luck locating another t-stat housing and was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions? I searched the forum and only came up with a part number for a `1973/1974 model. Mine is a 2.0 liter and I guess the thermostat housing is unique to that engine.
If anyone has any ideas on where I can find a thermostat housing for my '72 2.0 liter... I'm all ears! As a matter of fact, I'd even welcome phone calls since reading your replies is a little difficult for me, but I can do it. But if you DO want to talk, give me a shout at 248-320-5770. I'm in the metro-Detroit area.
Thanks in advance!!
John

I would remove the phone number. Just offer it to those that pm you.

Yes that one has a O-ring around the thermostat and held in with a snap ring , (that may have rusted away years ago ) you have to check some parts stores to see if they offer a replacement, which is cast iron and not stamped steel , or go on line and buy one from button power in England , they still used that engine up untel a few years ago , good people , got a few things for my 2.8 in my pinto .
