The Runabout let a lot of light in the rear. The plastic on lining in the passenger/trunk area took a lot of sun, faded, and chipped.
You really cannot paint or restore these surfaces. How can I pretty them up? I was thinking about laminating some vinyl to them, but there are a lot of compound curves to do this.
I am making my 1973 pristine, and this is the one dress-up problem I cannot seem to solve.

I repainted a late 70's Camaro interior for a customer with the same problem. What I did was sand the "dead" plastic off of the panels. Then I sprayed a couple coats of rocker panel anti-chip from about 1-1/2 feet away (available in rattle cans from most auto parts stores). Experiment on a scrap piece until you get the hang of it. This gave it a course pebble like finish. Not the exact texture but fairly close and a lot better than flaking plastic.
After that you can repaint the panels to match the rest on the interior.

That's what I was planning to do with the side panes in my wagon, never thought about the "rocker panel anti-chip " though, good idea.

I repainted my interior with aerosol paint I got at the hard ware store and it came out great
