On 79 Pinto how do you remove the key lock and how to remove the switch? My turn signals work some time and some time don't. When they don't work there is no power to the fuse. Makes me think it needs contacts cleaned or at least sprayed with a contact cleaner. I need to get it all apart to get to it and find out why.

Remove steering wheel and you will see the turn signal switch. I believe there's 3 Phillips that holds it in place. Unscrew lever and disconnect wiring running down column. Whole switch should come out.

The whole switch, is that the turn signal or ignition. The ignition switch is what I want to remove or get to. I don't think the turn signal switch is is my problem.

Ok, ignition tumbler has a pin that needs to pushed and key has to be in the on position. There are electrical parts on it though, electrical is down on column at least on early cars. Look under dash on top of column for a rod that attaches to switch assy. That is a failure point and is probably ur problem.

I found it. Had no idea the ignition switch was way down there and and a long rod from the key lock worked it. Thought it was right there at the end of the key lock.
